"Long wait for knee replacement surgery"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as a service user),

Almost 13 months after a consultation during which it was recommended that I have two knee replacements, I have received a letter informing me of delays to treatment due to COVID-19...

If it takes that long to send a letter how long is the wait for surgery? 😕

Dear Annkc76,

I am sorry that there has been a longer wait for your surgery. The letter was to provide a further update to all patients currently waiting for surgery. We are endeavoring to get all patients their treatment as quickly as possible.

If you feel there has been a change in your condition or require further clinical support please contact the service via your Orthopaedic Consultants secretary.

If you wish any further specific information on your case we would be happy to provide this. To do so please contact

Update posted by Annkc76 (a service user)

The response is only repeating what the letter stated ... telephoning the number results in a recorded message stating Do NOT leave a message. I know the NHS is under pressure but NOT being contacted for over 12 months after the initial consultation is unacceptable. My condition nor quality of life is not going to improve without surgical intervention
