I had a really positive experience having this procedure. I initially went in petrified and determined to have it done under GA. This is because I’d read of other women’s traumatic experiences and I was so anxious and scared. I did however decide to try it while awake as I had to still go to the original appointment. I was such a nervous wreck though that the gynaecologist suggested I may be better having it done under a general. I just wanted it over and done with by this point so she proceeded with the hysteroscopy. I took painkillers beforehand and I had gas and air during it. It was uncomfortable but bearable and was over quickly. The staff were brilliant and put me at ease. I had this done on 10/03/21 at The Jasmine Suite in Stepping Hill hospital. It certainly wasn’t the horrendous barbaric experience I had read about. I think this was because of the experience and understanding of the staff
