"I was left feeling extremely cared for"

About: NHS 24 Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Accident & Emergency Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Gynaecology (Ward 49)

(as the patient),

I phoned NHS 24 with severe stomach pain and vomiting and within an hour a GP had called me back and advised me to attend QEUH A&E. I was triaged and taken into a room quickly. I was then moved to the HDU part of the department. The medical and nursing staff were excellent, they kept me informed and explained everything that was going on. I was reviewed by a Gynaecology Dr whilst in A&E and this was also done quickly and without any embarrassment. I was then admitted to ward 49. The nurses in this ward are exceptional. They truly went and above and beyond to help me and again, explained what investigations I would have, what my results meant and what medications I had to take. The medical team and student nurses were also great.

Communication in my opinion is vital and I was left feeling extremely cared for and looked after. I can’t thank A&E and ward 49 for all their help and getting me the correct treatment quickly! Thank you!

Dear April94

I am sorry to learn you were unwell and hope you are doing so much better.

Thanks for sharing your story on Care Opinion. You have described an absolutely excellent journey of care and I am pleased this was your experience. I am sure my colleagues within NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde will be absolutely delighted with your feedback for their staff.

It sounds as though here at NHS 24 we arranged timely onward care for you following your call to 111. It is always great for us to hear what happens following a call to our service as clearly we are only involved in the initial part of a patient’s journey of care. If you wish to share any further information on your call to NHS 24 then I would be pleased to hear from you. You can contact me at Patient.Experience@nhs24.scot.nhs.uk

You are absolutely correct when you say that communication is vital. It’s great to see that you felt cared for and looked after. In a healthcare environment, such feedback is priceless. Thank you again for taking the time to share your positive experience.

With best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.

Shona

Dear april94

Thank you for taking the time to post such lovely feedback in regards to the time you spent in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

It was nice to hear how the staff made you feel at ease and kept you well informed throughout your journey.

I will be sure to pass on your feedback to the staff involved in the A&E Department who I'm sure will be touched to hear you had such a great experience while in their care.

Take care and I hope your feeling a lot better now.

Kind regards

Kevin
