"The lovely team of midwifes"

About: Lorn & Islands Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I would like to thank the amazing midwifery team at Oban Hospital for their amazing care throughout my pregnancies. I have given birth twice in the last 15 months and can not fault the care both times, even though this time the care was not the norm due to the pandemic it was still of the highest standard.

I was very lucky to have the same midwife Elayne look after me through my pregnancy this time as with my first pregnancy so she knew me very well and my history. It also meant I had that relationship there with her already. I was very nervous about being pregnant throughout the pandemic as I had just given birth before the pandemic really hit last time so not having partners with you for scans and antenatal appointments was very strange and made me feel anxious attending scans on my own but the midwifes where great.

I had an elective section this time after having an emergency section with my last son. I was really nervous to be having this due to the recovery and not being able to have my partner be in with me in hospital for long visiting hours like last time although all midwifes in paisley where fantastic and made sure my every need was attended to. Even down to feeding my child his bottle while I managed to eat my dinner and get some rest post op.

I had infections last time which was another concern with me but   Elayne my midwife really made sure that everything was in place to avoid the sort of recovery I had last time. When I contracted a slight infection this time I was straight onto the doctor to get   antibiotics and I was also given a wash to use for post sections for my wound which has been fantastic to use and made me feel better about having a wound knowing it was getting looked after and cleaned properly so I thank her for finding this for me to use and would recommend for all other mums requiring wound cleaning.

I cannot fault the care I received both pregnancy’s and especially this time when the care has to be a little different for everyone’s safety I never once felt like I was left or couldn’t get the care that was needed. Fantastic team all round at Oban. You are all amazing girls.

Dear Gem92

Congratulations on the birth of your baby and thank you for taking the time to share this feedback.

It is great to hear that you had such a positive experience both from Elayne and the team in Oban before and after the birth. I will make sure that this is fed back to them.

It is also lovely to hear that although you were nervous about care during the pandemic that the care you received was positive both in Oban and in Glasgow.

Best wishes to you and your family.
