I was advised by my consultant to come to the hospital after I started to experience extreme stomach pain and vomiting. The consultant arranged for me to visit the SDEC department and requested for scans to be done. I was sick twice whilst I was there and was given IV antisickness drugs and paracetamol. I was still in a lot of pain but was told they couldn’t give me anything else. My bloods were taken and it took 2 hours of sitting in pain to get the results back. I was told that my blood results are fine so probably is gastroenteritis. I had no scans or anything which is what my consultant requested. I was also given a dirty blanket and was not able to even speak to a doctor. I tried to explain that my vomiting has been going on for months and that I am under the care of a gastroenterologist so would be very unlikely to be a stomach bug. The only reason I came to the hospital was the extreme stomach pain and that my consultant had advised me to go. Unless the answer is immediately obvious then they do not want to look in to the cause any further.
