"A lack of compassion and professionalism"

(as the patient),

Nurses were wonderful, but the Oncology Doctors left a lot to be desired. One was incredibly rude to me. I had to push for my treatment to be continued during the initial Covid wave, in the full knowledge that I was entitled to Patient choice. I constantly had to chase for my Scan results.

The Scan bookings were a nightmare because I am disabled, and despite previous complaints they continued to book me into a Scan unit that I could not access. There is always a very long wait between Scans and someone phoning me with the results. The accuracy of the Scan results was never given, and I again had to complain to get a response.

Apart from the Nurses in the Beacon Day Unit, I would NOT recommend the Oncology Doctors at all. There was no continuation of care at all. I was asked if I would have Home Treatment which I agreed to, I felt pressurised to do so. There was no follow up at all from the Doctors, and the system in general needs updating and a complete over haul. I appreciate Covid may be used as a reason for this, but this should not be the case. The Doctors showed a lack of compassion and professionalism. Absolutely dreadful.

Update posted by violetskies (the patient)

Dear Jo

Thank you for taking the time to both and reply to report on my experience at Musgrove. Whilst my Treatment Plan is still in progress, I have another 8/9 months of the Trial left, I am assuming that the two two treatments of the Immunotherapy missed due to a mis-guess on behalf of one of the Doctors concerned, these two missed treatments will be factored in. Once my treatment course is complete, and after that I have been told that no further regular communication/appointments will be ongoing, I will be submitting a full and detailed account of this to PALS. I have been treated appallingly and only receive the correct procedures after I have raised them with Musgrove. One Doctor TOLD me not to email them, nor contact them. How else can a wrong be put right if the issue is not brought to the Doctors attention? Why put an email address if they do not wish this to be utilised? Hence my report to this website. Thank you once again for showing care. But my FULL account will be submitted later in the year. Take care.

Kind regards
