"Dermatology"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Dermatology

(as the patient),

I discovered a changing mole on my back, went straight to my GP who referred me urgently to dermotology and medical imaging. I was seen by medical imaging withing 48 hours. This was almost 5 weeks ago. I have phoned referral management to be told that I probably won't receive an appointment for 8-10 weeks and to be told that my local hospital isn't seeing any dermatology appointments. I find this waiting time totally unacceptable when we could be dealing with a life threatening melanoma. How is this justifiable when everything you read states that suspected cancer should be seen within 14 days. I am finding the stress of waiting too much and feel I may have no choice but to use my hard earned savings to go be seen privately. Feeling let down.
