I was apprehensive about attending for a cervical smear test. Aside from the potential embarrassment of having to undress in front of someone, I was concerned it would be physically uncomfortable when they carried out the test.

I was also a bit wary because it was recently, during 'COVID times' and so I felt a bit nervous about coming into close physical contact.

I needn't have worried. The nurse was kind, welcoming and so efficient. She was decked out in PPE. It can't have taken her more than 30 seconds to obtain the sample and it didn't hurt at all. We had a lovely chat afterwards and I felt clear on what to expect next in terms of receiving the results.

I put off having a smear for years due to my fears but because it was such a positive experience, I want to share it in case it helps someone else gather the courage to get tested.
