I was taken to Doncaster Hospital by ambulance the beginning of March, having been suffering from a very low pulse and breathlessness for some months. On arrival at the ICU I was met with the most professional staff and having never been in hospital I felt extremely vulnerable. The staff were very supportive and able to give me information from the ECG which showed that I had a heart block and that I would be admitted into the Cardiology Ward where I would probably have a Pacemaker fitted.
I was admitted to Cardiology that day where I was attached to a heart machine and my pulse and blood pressure were monitored regularly. Staff were concerned regarding my pulse which was between 28 and 30 bpm. During the night it fell below this and one of the doctors came to me, about my condition as he was extremely concerned.
I had a Pacemaker fitted and almost immediately. I felt better as my pulse returned to normal. I am now on the road to recovery. I dread to think what could have happened if I had not gone into hospital that day. I cannot thank the staff at the hospital enough and I have already sent thank you cards to the two depts.
"My visit to hospital to have a pacemaker fitted."
