I was referred to the Pain Clinic more than 2 years ago (very bad hip pain.) A few visits, a long wait between - and treatment offered did little or nothing to help - eg. use of Tens machine, steroid injection to the hip, etc. Before 1st lockdown, another steroid injecton discussed and agreed. Since then, all I have heard about it was a call just before Christmas to see if I still wanted it. I said yes, although the latest x-rays led my GP to suggest there was no way to get a needle into the hip joint! If I have waited a year for that jab, how long will I have to wait for a hip replacement??
Being treated privately is very expensive, of course - but it looks like my only sensible option. I wonder how many others of my age (71) or more who are also waiting but couldn't afford to go private??
X-ray department has been very good when my GP wanted another x-ray - only a short wait for an appointment and GP received x-rays/report very quickly. But the Pain Clinic has been VERY slow - while my pain has doubled (at least) since my last visit (about February 2020),
"Pain Clinic - not much use"
