"About my uncle"

About: Daisy Hill Hospital Southern Health & Social Care Trust / Virtual Visiting Service

(as a service user),

My uncle went into Daisyhill on Sunday. later that evening I phoned and asked the nurse about him and could I speak to him. They gave them the phone and I asked how he felt and he said he was looking home and started to cry. I was in a awful state. So he got moved up to ward on Monday.

On Tuesday I tried phoning from 10 that morning till 6 could not get through, I know that they have been extremely busy. By this time I was really getting upset because you know at this time we cannot visit. So I phoned the virtual line and it was a God send. They had me talking face to face with my uncle and was able to content myself that he was ok.

They have me booked in for the next 2 evenings. It was so straight forward everything went to a T and images where so clear and the girl was so helpful. Would definitely recommend this service to anyone who has a family member in hospital. Thankyou x

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience of the new Virtual Visiting Service in Southern Health and Social Services Trust. We recognise how difficult it is for families at the minute with the restricted visiting guidelines in place due to Covid 19. This new service has been established to try to support families and patients during this time and your story just lets us see how the important the service is. Being able to see your uncle helped to reassure you that he was okay.

I am sorry that you were not able to get through to the ward and can understand how difficult this must have been for you. We have set up the separate line for the Virtual Visiting Service so that it makes it easier for families to get through.

I have directly shared your feedback with all the Virtual Visiting Team and they are so delighted to receive it.

Please send our best wishes to your uncle

Kind regards

Mairead
