8 weeks ago I under went a hysterectomy at Whiston Hospital. It was a very last minute offer of a date during crazy pandemic times. They still managed a brilliant pre op 'gyn school' with me which helped with fears and anxieties I had. Once in for my surgery the staff were amazing and completely reassuring with any concerns or questions. Not having family around was hard going and the catering, HCA and support staff certainly helped with just little bits of chit chat when around the wards, its these little things that really lifted spirits when you don't have visitors. The nurses were clearly stretched and and the hospital was starting to feel the pressures of COVID but their care never faulted. I really think their work on pre-op care, pre-load drinks, physio guidance, diet advice and general positive wellbeing support before, during and after care has made my recovery speedy and problem free.
"Brilliant care in difficult times"
