Came in pain with a fever and swollen tonsils, left feeling like a superwoman. The best part was receiving painkillers through an IV injection, which literally felt like I was on a happy pill for the rest of the day (still can’t wipe a smile off my face, to be honest). After a few hours of watching the ceiling in a state of pure bliss, my only problem was that I hadn’t eaten in two days. That's when I saw her. The sweet lady with the food tray offering me a sandwich. At that moment I realised I couldn’t even feel my tonsils anymore. I don’t know if it was the impeccable treatment I got, the sheer spotless white interior of the hospital, or the drugs but I’m pretty sure that was the closest I’ll ever get to heaven. God bless the NHS - You are appreciated.
Also, I was constantly checked on and all the nurses and doctors were incredibly sweet and caring. Plus, I didn’t even have to walk inside the hospital to get my prescripted medication which was brought directly to me.
I’ve never left a hospital feeling happy before. Thanks UCLH
