"Lincoln hospital"

About: East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust / Emergency ambulance GPs in Lincolnshire East Lincoln County Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

I was in an accident last year, being run over by a vehicle and dragged into a muddy ditch. This was all my own fault. However an ambulance was called and I was taken to lincoln county hospital by ambulance. The ambulance staff were fantastic but they couldn't assess my wounds as I was covered in mud they did not have the facilities to clean me up. When we arrived at Lincoln hospital the ambulance staff spoke with the A&E staff and told them I needed to be showered and then have my wounds assessed.

I was put in the A&E department, until I was called through by a Dr.   The Dr saw me and laughed and asked me why I was there, I described everything that happened and was just told look fine you can go home so I did. I was very very upset by this. I went home and showered to see what injuries I had I was covered in cuts and bruises some of the cuts were deep. I had tyre marks on my right knee and right arm. My mother called the GP to come out and assess me the following day. The nurse sent me straight back to lincoln a&e as the wound in my arm was infected and also wanted me checked for broken bones.

This whole experience with lincoln county hospital has scarred me mentally. I have been through hell after the way I was treated I know it was my fault but it was an accident. I never want to use Lincoln County A&E department again. The staff who were on reception at A&E were very rude and abrupt also. There is no need for that kind of attitude especially when working in a hospital. I think it is absolutely disgraceful. I have been very poorly this last year and have been advised to go to a&e but I won't go, I would rather suffer than go.

Dear Angry123,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us, and I do hope you are on the mend now.

While I'm pleased to hear our ambulance crew were there to help you, I'm sorry to hear about your experience at the hospital. If you haven't done so already, I would recommend that you contact the hospital's Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) to report your concerns. Their details are available here: https://www.ulh.nhs.uk/patients/patient-experience/contact-pals/

Best wishes,

Richard Hunter
