"My hearing imairement was ignored by most of the…"

About: Birmingham Midland Eye Centre (Bmec)

I have not doubt that the specialist medical knowledge for eyes is second to none. However, I was reduced to tears and left feeling very vulnerable as I have a hearing impairment and face masks make it impossible for me to lip read.

I was asked by the door usher why I hadn't got a white stick. Many of the staff just continued to talk at me with their masks on even though I explained my situation. I wasnt allowed someone with me and felt very tearful. It has mad my anxiety over my eye condition even worse.

I know times are difficult, however we are all people, many who have other things to deal with. A little staff training would be useful.
