My dad is currently receiving palliative care. I was staying with my father at Southmead hospital Bristol for a few nights after his condition worsened.
On the night before he was due to be discharged home at his request, to be in his home when he dies. It was all depending on his condition if he would be released or not. Spending the night with him I was getting increasingly concerned about his health, as I was worried he would not make it home.
Bank nurse Kathy (ward 28a) gave her time to me and spoke to me and made me feel so at ease and made me feel so much better. I would like her to know how much she helped me that evening.
My father spent 3 weeks at Southmead before he was discharged, and he has told me that all the staff there did their best to treat him and he would like to thank each and everyone who helped him. The two nights I spent with my dad opened my eyes to how special these nurses are and how hard they work.
Also please could you send my thanks to Dr Tamara and the palliative nurses who worked so hard to get my dad home and make him as comfortable as possible.
