About: Northern Ireland Ambulance Service / Emergency ambulance response Older People Community Services / Community Falls Team

(as a service user),

My dad had copd he was house bound On oxygen all the time he took bad falls broken his Hip. The staff that came into the house treated him extremely well they also made his family feel nice and safe keep us updated with things they did

Saddenly about 3 in the morning he fell out of bed phoned for ambulance and my dad took a heart attack they were trying to save him they got back up and they kept the family nice and calm the paramedics worked on him for 20 mins but he was dead they lifted him onto the bed and made him comfortable and waited with us until

The police arrived the paramedics did a excellent job very professional

I was so upset I took a Panci attack they sorted me out it was from south east Trust I think

I am very sorry to hear about your dad's passing, it must have been a very frightening and worrying time.

I am glad that the professionalism and care of our staff supported you and your family, they will really appreciate you having taken the time to share how you feel. I'll make sure the area manager for South Eastern Division reads this story and shares with her staff.

My sincerest condolences

Rachel

I am very sorry for your loss. Thank you for taking the time to write such a gracious note at this difficult time.

It is so important for ambulance staff to be reassured that their actions and professionalism is acknowledged and appreciated not only by patients but also by relatives and carers.

It is heartening to hear your kind words and to be reassured that the hard work of the NIAS crews is making a difference.

My deepest sympathies on your loss.

Joanna

Dear Violetxz69,

I am very sorry to hear of the sudden loss of your dad, and I can imagine that the emotions of his passing were, and still are, very painful. As Joanna has said above, I want to thank you for your generosity in taking the time to write and tell us of your experience at this difficult time for you and your family. We really do appreciate it.

You mentioned the care that was provided to him while he was at home, and how the staff cared not only for your dad, but for your family, supporting you and keeping you informed of his treatment. I will pass on your kind words to our staff and I know they will appreciate them. I am glad that their care and attention to your dad helped you all to feel safe.

Again, I'd like to extend my condolences to your family and wish you all every comfort in this challenging time.

My deepest sympathies,

Máire Alexander
