"Vaccination with my adult autistic learning disabled son"

About: City and Hackney GP Confederation / Covid-19 vaccine programme

(as a service user),

I held my son while he had his vaccination because he suddenly became frightened despite the fact we were through the booking in system very quickly and been shown somewhere to park and guided to the correct health centre entrance beforehand  so he had no time to become anxious. The team then swiftly arranged for me to have a vaccination too because I am my son’s carer (my GP surgery had incorrectly said I had to have an underlying condition as well as being a carer to be put into Category 6). As needle approached my arm my son put his arms around me and ‘I’ll look after you’.

A beautiful moment.

Our thanks to everyone involved; their efficiency coupled kindness made it all work
