I had not engaged properly with previous care for a couple of years and finally had the courage to sort myself out! I was worried I would get "told off" but had absolutely no reason too. The nurse I spoke to didn't make me fee like I was being judged or uncomfortable. I had an initial telephone consult with a diabetes nurse specialist. A week later I had an appointment for a virtual consult. The support I've received has been brilliant. Everything was explained clearly and any fears I have had were addressed and dealt with. There's been a number of changes to meds and I feel confident in starting and implementing any changes as I know that the nurses are just a phone call away.

Thank you very much for your feedback. It so good to hear that despite negative past experiences with your diabetes care, that you feel well supported by the Community Diabetes Specialist Nurse Service. We try very hard to ensure the care we provide is person centred.

Our new Telephone Triage system and NearMe video consulation was introduced during COVID-19 and It is allowing us to assess and support patients to manage their diabetes much faster than ever before. The vast majority of our patients are now being telephoned the same day we receive their referral, and they have their consultation within 1 -2 weeks.

We also operate a patient advice line 01592 729458 which is covered Monday to Friday 9-5pm should you require any diabetes advice in between your appointments with us.

I am sure the team will appreciate your kind words as much as I do, so I shall pass them on.
