I suffer with extreme panic and an anxiety attacks and after receiving my smear results had to have a follow up at hairmyres due to changes in my cervix. My husband attended my appointment with me as we phone the week before to explain how bad I get. I arrived in some mess crying etc.
The nurses could see I was distressed so offer me and my husband into a room away from waiting area. We waited a short while then the doctor came to speak to us. What a lovely lady and the nurses were also amazing.
I then went into have the colposcopy. My doctor and nurses were so helpful and made sure I was ok and could go ahead with the examination.Any questions I had they answered and also kept me calm and as relaxed as possible. I actually explained that having my smear by my own gp was a lot more painful then what I experienced with them. And that was me getting biopsy’s taking also.
Hands down a big massive thank you to Dr Gurham & nurses today. I left that room a lot better than I went in. fantastic team and from the bottom of my heart thank you. You put my mind at ease and for a person that suffers really bad mental health Yous did amazing. I still left emotional but in a good way with some relief. Thanks so much Hairmyres Rapid Access Unit for showing compassion and understanding! ! Wish everyone understood mental health in this way! !
