I arrived an hour early as nhs transport had brought me over 100 miles and wanted to make sure I wasn’t late . Met with a receptionist with a shocking attitude , barking at me that I was too early , tried to explain how I got there but ignored then told to sit in waiting area . My concern is not with the medical side but mainly the catering side . I was left in a room for approx 4 hours , I asked could I have some food and was given a curling egg Mayo sandwich , disgusting . Surgery next day approx 9.30am so nil by mouth from Friday 6pm . Asked if I could have any food at 5.30pm ( tea 5 till 6pm ) and was told No you didn’t order any . Finished up being offered another sandwich . 5 mins later offered sausage n mash yuk . Ordered breakfast for Sunday , offered barns of bacon OR egg , went for bacon and as now starving asked for two only to be shot down with you can have 1 . When it arrived it was toasted so dry as sticks and I couldn’t swallow it so left it . The choice on offer is pathetic , the standard is terribl and the catering staffs attitude needs looking at. NHS should not use this hospital , my stay was horrible . Bring so far from friends and family is hard enough without getting stressed in the place that is supposed to be helping you . Even for an emergency I would refuse to go here again
