I was admitted to NHS FV via my community midwife at a routine appointment, I was directed to Triage and then admitted onto the ward.
Being 39 + 6 days pregnant and due to Covid, I had to attend on my own so was feeling abit nervous about the whole situation.
I can honestly say I should not have been nervous, all the staff were amazing. As soon as I entered the ward, Lauren and the student midwife on shift made me feel at ease and talked me through the full situation and explained visiting times and procedures for induction.
I was then taken over by another two midwives when the shift changed, during this time I was induced and again they talked me through the full procedure and I instantly felt as ease.
My partner was able to visit me on ward until 8pm that evening which was a great relief - by 1.30am my waters broke. The midwife on shift in the ward- Jennifer, was amazing. I honestly do not know how I would have coped without her as my partner was not allowed to visit me until I was admitted onto the labour ward.
Jennifer kept me calm the full time and did not leave me unless she had to.
Even though this was my second pregnancy, given the circumstances I was really nervous and scared - I should not have been.
A few hours later our baby boy arrived and we were discharged by tea-time.
The Maternity Unit were all outstanding - I will never be able to thank them enough. Please pass on my thanks to all the staff and a special thank you to Jennifer (Midwife on ward) and Billie (Student Midwife in the labour ward) as they were outstanding and I could have not got through it without them.
