"Paralysed at C 3/4 After a RTA in 1996"

About: District Nursing / Castlederg

(as the patient),

Since my accident In 1996 which has left me paralysed from the neck down,

I require the services of the Castlederg District nursing Team on a Ongoing basis, Checking my skin from, a bedsore to Cellulitis(I had a sore on my back which took 3-6 months to heal up),Then I require them to come if not daily but every other day. The advice and help I get is second to none.
Getting bloods taken, changing my suprapubic catheter every 8 weeks and even if I have burnt my fingers, (which I am currently getting treated for at the moment)Whenever I call them they are out straightaway to see how they can heal up the area or sort out the problem .They always keep me informed as to what treatment is going on to heal up whatever needs care for and when they will be back .The nurses are always there if ever call them for advice, Or even if my suprapubic catheter needs changed no matter what day it is, (I have Life threatening condition called autonomic dysreflexia so getting my catheter changed when blocked is vitally important)
Personally speaking l receive wonderful care 365 days of the year and have done this last 24 years. I would be lost without them.
