"Having my gorgeous baby girl"

About: Borders General Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

The care I received for 100%, I was in Borders General hospital for tests for high blood pressure, I went in on the Wednesday and didn't come home until I had my baby and after care on the Sunday evening.

I started on ward 16 where I was induced by balloon,. then taken to the labour suite on the Thursday Morning.. the balloon induction had  not worked, they then did the gel induction, this did not work, I was then given it a 2nd time. this had not worked, they said I could try again that day or go back to ward 16 for a rest and try in the Morning, I got back to ward 16 about 4pm and my waters broke at 6.15pm, I as taken back to the labour ward. I had 3 different shifts and all of them were absolutely amazing, can not fault them one bit. I had a help with delivery in the end and the whole surgical team were fantastic and extremely supportive and knowledgeable and explained the whole process to me at every stage.

I had to stay in to be monitored due to blood pressure and I had also lost a bit of blood and had to have 2 blood transfusions. nothing was a problem for the labour team who all made me feel so relaxed and welcoming to the girls on ward 16. they put up with my tears and anxiety of being a first time mum and supported me with information and guidance while I was in there.

they all work extremely hard, and never once did I have any issues. I would love to thank them all.

Dear Jacki225

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter and thank you for such lovely feedback. I am pleased you felt the staff welcomed you and made you feel safe.

Being in hospital and experiencing the induction process can be frightening and I am pleased you also felt supported both in Labour Ward and Ward 16 during your Labour and following your delivery.

I will ensure your feedback is shared with the staff as we aim to provide person centred care, I hope you settling into your new family life with your daughter.

Many Thanks

Kirsteen Guthrie
