"Dignity and exceptional care"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - City Campus

I supported my sister who has Down Syndrome for a week after she was admitted with complications having contracted coronavirus. Throughout her inpatient stay she was treated with dignity and respect by all members of staff on the respiratory assessment unit and Fleming Ward. I stayed with my sister throughout her stay and was involved with her care, I was also consulted on limits of treatment without being put under any pressure. As a qualified nurse I was impressed with the empathy, professionalism and enthusiasm of the staff. I would like to thank everyone who played a part in her recovery.

With eternal gratitude

Lorna Ccoper and on behalf of my sister Susan thank you.

Thank you Lorna for writing to share your and Susan’s experience of the time Susan was a patient with us. I am so pleased to hear that you were able to feel confident in the empathy and professionalism of all you met, and that you felt sufficiently involved in decisions around Susan’s care. I will share your kind words with the RAU and Fleming ward teams so they know this was appreciated.

Our best wishes to you and Susan
