"Phone call for ICATS Dermatology Service"

About: South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust

(as a service user),

Last month i missed a telephone appointment for my son with Dermatology - i thought it was my fault as i had taken another call and i thought i missed the call.  The ICATS operator that i rang was very unhelpful hence i shared my experience with Care Opinion and Conor from SE Trust replied and thank you for that.

I received another appointment for my son, which was for yesterday, a full month after the first appointment.  This time I set reminders, i watched my phone all afternoon and NO call!
I have just phoned ICATS and turns out that although it states my mobile number on the letter the Consultant phoned my husbands mobile as he was the last person to speak to the GP about my son back in December.
No where on the letter does it say that you need to make sure that the number your GP has listed needs to be the same as that on the letter. The Dermatology Consultant phoned me on my mobile last summer, i had no reason to think they would phone my husband this time.
My son is two years old and he has trouble with his skin, hence my husband needing to phone the GP in December to get a Fusidic acid cream.  GP's are also operating a telephone appointment service, i guess thats why they added my husbands mobile to my sons notes - no one ever made it clear that would affect hospital telephone appointments.

My son now has to wait another full month before he gets a review, i am really upset and angry about that.  If the original ICATS operator had been a bit more helpful back in January when i phoned about the missed call we might have realised the mistake then and it would have been corrected for this month, but now we have to wait until next month.

Also you need to change the message on the letter, as it clearly states my number and this is not the number that the consultant phoned.

This is really unfair - i was available at the number stated on the ICATS letter, my son shouldn't have to wait another month.

Thank you

Hi hsc2021,

I am sorry to hear that you have had further issues with the telephone appointments system for the ICATS Dermatology service.

I will follow this up with the service and Conor and see where we can make improvements to the system to avoid errors like this from happening again.

I will get an update posted here as soon as possible.

Regards,

Richard
