My dad, ill and weak for some considerable time, was assessed at home by the Acute Care at Home Team and subsequently transferred to Craigavon Hospital by emergency ambulance. The ambulance staff - Angus and Ashley -were clearly a very competent team, and, recognising his peri-arrest status, gave appropriate treatment, yet allowing time for my elderly mother to see him for the last time as he was placed in the ambulance. The ED team awaiting his coming, were competently led by Dr McKeever, who informed me throughout of his progress and the options that were open to them. I was impressed with Dr McKeever's professionalism and compassion. Special mention and commendation should also be reserved for Dr Porter, consultant radiologist, and surgical registrar Andrew, who dealt with difficult matters in a most sensitive way. Lastly - and by no means least - I would like to mention staff nurse McCaul, who was marked by warmth, care and sensitivity, as she tended to my dad in his last hours.
"My dad's transfer to ED and subsequent care."
