"Diabetes Support Throughout the Pandemic"

About: University Hospital Ayr / Endocrinology and Diabetes

(as the patient),

I have been on a journey throughout the last 4 years after being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when I was 19 years old. I have had constant hospital appointments with Ruth the Diabetes Dietitian from Ayr Hospital and she has supported me since day one. When the initial lockdown was imposed I was unable to attend any Hospital Appointments and found myself going off track again. Ruth then contacted me and offered me facetime appointments, every few weeks we would have a Facetime call to check up on my progress, this really helped support me throughout this time and it was a focus for me to make sure I stayed on top of my diabetes to be able to give Ruth a positive update at my appointment. I think this service is absolutely fantastic especially for times like this or for people who can't travel or maybe are not comfortable going to face to face appointments. I would recommend it to anyone.
