I want to share my story today with whoever has the time to read it
I have always seen and heard of people going into hospitals for strokes and heart attacks and various other things and felt bad for them but never believed it could happen to me then on Christmas Day 2020 it happened and it was not a pretty thing it threw me down like I never imagined it could.
Throughout my life I have been a very proud man who always done everything for myself and was very independent , now as a result of the stroke I feel hopeless and useless that I can’t do everything I could do previously in my 71 years , and this is why it is so important for people to look after themselves top try and prevent things like this happening .
My experience was 4 weeks in the hospital and I will never forget it, the care myself and the other patients received from the nurses with them being by our sides and supporting us 24/7. the mad thing is with these nurses doing everything to help us there are still people who take advantage and are extremely rude and ungrateful to what they do for us , these nurses work around the clock with myself being in hospital during the festive season you just look and thing they could be in there homes with there families and seeing there loved ones on Christmas Day but instead they are helping us get better so why do they not get the respect they deserve ?
The NHS and all there staff are our heroes they never gave up on me or anyone else and they don’t ask for anything in return , through the hard times like this pandemic and the NHS being over run everyone needs to have some patience work with the nurses and try be a bit more polite. Just think the more you listen and work with them the better you’ll get and will be out the hospital like myself after the nurses helping me I feel that in time I will get back to be the person I was previously before I was affected by this disease .
All I have two say to end this is look after yourself , and if you ever are in the hospital it is a small price to pay to have respect for the people who are there to save your life and better you. Because no-one knows when its there turn to be cared for.
