"Feeling let down"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Accident & Emergency Crosshouse Hospital / General Psychiatry

(as a parent/guardian),

Took my son to A&E, previous week he had carried out acts of self harm requiring several stitches.

He was totally desperate for help, suicidal, was seen by 2 psychiatric nurses who decided he was fit to leave hospital with myself.

I myself, begging them to help him, was told no. That if he kills himself then that’s his own doing, he’s a man.

My reply is that yes he’s a man - who is here asking for help.

Police don’t want him as they say it’s hospital he needs.

What am I supposed to do.

I walk the floor with him 24/7.

Dear Jokey

I am so sorry to hear of the problems you have encountered trying to get the right care for your son. I do not under estimate who distressing and frightening this must be to you.

Would you please be willing to provide me with more details via email to allow us to investigate your concerns and liaise with our mental health colleagues?

You can contact me via email on Laura.Harvey@aapct.scot.nhs.uk or via telephone on 01292 513610 (please note I'm on leave until Monday the 25th February but will respond immediately on my return)

With Best Wishes

Laura

Update posted by Jokey (a parent/guardian)

I have sent email with all my details & my sons.

I don’t like to complain but if that was someone else with no one, I dread the thought of the out come

I honestly feel my son would have took his own life, if I hadn't stayed with him.

Surely if someone is so desperate for help cutting themselves to 50 odd stitches 2 weeks before & openly tell two nurses I’m afraid for I’m capable of doing to myself my head isn’t right hearing voices

They need Help

I’m just relieved he is now getting help through Three Towns Resource Centre where the doctor there mentioned hospitalising my son due to the state of his mental health

I hope & pray no one else gets the same treatment at

Cross House hospital
