"Mental health"

About: Highbury Hospital Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust / Adult Mental Health Services - Community (City)

(as a service user),

This is about Highbury hospital, Nottingham.

The staff are nice and friendly, but they didn't actually listen to my problems and interpret what I'm going through now as an adult.

Basically I had a real rough childhood, I faced physical, mental, emotional and sexual abuse as a child.

I grew up in the care system, had around 5-10 foster carers, lived in 15+ children's homes.

Was constantly moved around all the time, just when I finally got settled into my foster home or children's home.

And it's worse when you find out the only reason you ended up being moved was because I was getting too close to the people that was caring for me.

Well you know I'm sorry, it's not like anyone else loved me and I didn't love or trust people easy.

Forget the abuse, it's not easy growing up in care.

People will never understand what it's like to be a child and your friends parents realise you're in care and start looking at you like a piece of crap on the bottom of their shoe.

And tell their kids to stay away from you, like you know I was put into care as a baby.

I'm not the reason why I'm in care, furthermore I don't know the reason as to why I was in care.

But it never mattered to people back in the day, they all treated me different after when they find out like I got a disease.

Plus with all the other kids bullying me because I was a child in care.

I had to grow up fast, I didn't have a childhood.

Then there was the abuse on top of all that as well.

But you know according to my cpn at Highbury hospital, because I went there and was dressed well, hair and beard neat and trim I'm perfectly fine, just dealing with a bit of childhood trauma.

Haha yeah just a bit of childhood trauma, that's it nothing wrong with me I will be fine.

The cpn do not listen to me properly, gave me a report on what they think, that messes with my mental health even more.

Mental health services in Nottingham have been useless for me, its felt like the only way I've found something gets done is actually when I have hurt myself or trying killing myself and good night to QMC as a mental health emergency.

That is literally the only way I've gotten proper help.
