"Comfortable to talk openly about my worries"

About: North Devon District Hospital / Cancer Services

(as a service user),

The counselling I have received from North Devon Cancer Care Counselling Service has been extremely helpful .

 I did not know I had O C D until I started counselling.

The counselling has helped me understand why I have it and how it works and how I can put in place strategies and alternative thoughts to help me to cope better in my daily life .

I have also looked at ways I can help my self and have been able to discuss these with my counsellor

I have felt comfortable to talk openly about my worries and fears and sometimes have a good cry in the counselling sessions , my counsellor has been very understanding and has explained and we have discussed why I am reacting as I do .

If I hadn’t been able to access counselling over video call or phone I simply wouldn’t have accessed support. The video calls have enabled me to access support despite my anxiety.

The counsellor has been able to judge my progress and has made recommendations for further support .

I am very thankful for the support ,understanding and kindness I have been given in the counselling sessions , I know if I need further support there will be some one able to help me .

Thank you .

Dear Annie321

Thank you for taking the time to leave your lovely feedback. I'm so pleased that we have been able to meet your needs through remote working due to covid. It is really valuable to know that you would not have accessed this support had it not been offered by phone or video calling. We will certainly take your feedback on board and this will be something we continue to offer so that we can be more accessible after the pandemic ends. It feels really important for people like yourself to be able to access support from the safety and comfort of your home if attending face to face sessions are not possible.

I'm very glad you felt comfortable enough to address your worries and fears and find support from your counsellor. Should you need any help with signposting in the future you are always welcome to get back in touch with us on 01271334472.

Warm wishes

Jess and the team
