"How they played a role in my recovery"

About: Inclusion Recovery College Thurrock

(as a service user),

Inclusion Recovery College Thurrock (Grays) has helped me to improve my well being and recovery from a period of anxiety. My GP referred me to Mind, who in turn referred me to the College. This was late 2017.

From this period of time and to-date, I have undertaken many courses which have been very beneficial to me. Hard to put into words just how big a part they have played in my recovery, not just with the courses, but the friendship and constant reassurance that has helped me, knowing the College is there for me; it is so reassuring to know the College will continue to be there and offer the support provided, not just to me but for all the other participants who seek support. I have found the college to be very professional and reliable. Wide range of subjects on courses which are presented so well and I have never felt uncomfortable and pressurised, which is so important.

In 2018, along with my GP, I was able to stop medication for anxiety. The face to face courses were also another means of meeting new friends. Since Covid restrictions, I have undertaken further courses on zoom and again, so beneficial in this current climate with some excellent relevant courses.
I will continue to keep in close contact with the College and currently have several courses booked up until mid March. Thank you to the College and all the tutors and producers of the courses. I do hope this College will continue to operate and receive appropriate funding. Long term, in my opinion, this is very cost effective, and my GP is so pleased, not just with my recovery, but with the support I have received from the College. Thank you.

Dear venushn45,

Thank you for sharing your recovery journey with us.

The good thing is that we are 'on tap' for whoever needs us within the Thurrock Community (whether you live, work, are using the local health & social care services or are supporting/ caring for someone in the Borough) our course and workshops stay open to you for access.

You will also now find us on Fridays in Tilbury Hub (library) at Civic Square.

If you want to find out more just email us on

thurrockrcollege@mpft.nhs.uk

and we tell you all about what is currently happening around the college.

There are also several volunteering opportunities to get involved first hand and give back to others.

Kind regards
