About: Fairfield General Hospital

On 28th December following advice from '111' and then the Primary care Team in Manchester, I urgently attended your A & E @ 6pm. I had had foot surgery in November and the wound had become infected. I was urged to go straight to A & E because if the infection had gone into the bone, I was told I could end up very seriously ill. From the moment I arrived, I was treated with the utmost of respect and dignity. The initial A & E nurse who greeted me was lovely and whilst I was waiting to be seen, I saw them actively cleaning the waiting area seats so I felt incredibly Covid- safe. The doctor I saw could not have been more professional, kind, or thorough. Even the reception staff were lovely. The doctor even wheeled me down to X-Ray as they wanted to make sure that the infection had not spread to my bone. Once the x-ray came back, I was reassured that the infection had not spread to the bone and the doctor discharged me with appropriate strong antibiotics and advice after my wound was dressed by a lovely nurse. I was so impressed by the treatment I received, I felt compelled to leave a review on your site. I don't even live in Bury as I was being looked after at my partner's house in the area following my major foot surgery and also I can't drive again yet. In this unprecedented time with this awful pandemic, I still received the most amazing treatment by your staff. The staff at A & E and all NHS staff are incredible and should be proud as I was very grateful for the caring treatment I received. I left @ 8pm so I feel that was amazing service bearing in mind we are in the middle of a pandemic when so many medical staff are being deployed from areas like A & E to Covid wards. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for preventing my infection from getting worse and so you probably saved my life. A very grateful outpatient.
