I had an appointment for colonoscopy this week.
I arrived at the unit and was taken in at the correct time of 1.30 pm by a nurse who instructed me about the clothes and how to wear the gown and pants.
From that point on I was seen by different nurses to take details and prepare me for my procedure.
It was my first ever colonoscopy so a little apprehensive however the staff were all excellent in making me feel less anxious and quite calm.
The time didn’t drag and things went fairly quickly.
I was invited to the unit where I met up with endoscopist Lynn who was to perform the procedure and in attendance was endoscopist Adele and Staff nurse Angela.
I wish to highly commend the treatment of the team for all the help they gave me and in particular Lynn who performed the procedure with the minimum of discomfort and care. Indeed it proved a remarkable experience not least because of the team’s professional completion of the examination and comforting words.
I returned to recovery where I was provided with a tea and biscuits within minutes.
I had already been reassured that all was well whilst in the treatment room but I was given the written confirmation of the procedure results by nurse Edith a bank nurse from North east England.
Finally I wish to say well done to the Endoscopy Unit and the people who attended to me. You have a lot to be proud of !!
