My wife required a MRI scan following a referral from her GP on 23. December.
With the intense, current pressure the NHS is under we were expecting some delay and was delighted when an appointment was received for 17. January - yes, a Sunday, what a brilliant way to maximise the use of resources.
The booklet accompanying the appointment letter fully detailed where to find the unit and what to expect during the scan - helpful in allaying apprehension. One useful update would be to confirm whether there is cashless/touch-free car park payment.
The staff from reception to completion were friendly, professional and supportive - the whole event from entry to exit taking 55 mins.
COVID related precautions were exemplary with complete sanitising of equipment and provision of an additional, clean mask to replace the one my wife was wearing.
It was also good to watch the ambulance crews attending to their vehicles during turnaround periods.
It’s worth remembering those staff members who are continuing to provide a valuable service in associated units during these stressful times with a well-deserved ‘many thanks’.
"MRI Unit: Great people - great resource use."
