About: Borders General Hospital / Intensive & Critical Care Scottish Ambulance Service

(as a relative),

I have just collected my dad from Borders General Hospital after a near 3 week stay due to Covid-19. My dad collapsed on Hogmanay after his oxygen levels dropped and the service received from our NHS from that point was nothing short of brilliant.

From the SAS crew who attended within 12 mins of me calling them for help to all the doctors, nurses, auxiliaries and all the other staff involved in his care, you all done absolutely amazing work. Dad spent some time in ITU and really wasn’t well at one point but the care he has received has meant my family and myself have been able to get him home today safe and well. My mum will have some work to do to keep up the standard of meals and attention he’s been getting the past three weeks!

Our thanks and gratitude to every one of you and we will be doing some fundraising as our way of showing our thanks. Keep up the amazing work and know that you are all very special people.

Hi Drum82

Many thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience regarding your Dads recent episode in hospital. I am glad to hear that he is recovering and home safe and well and it is good to know that the ambulance crew played a part. As you know we are usually the first point of contact for many incidents and very often set the scene for what comes after so I am always happy to hear positive comments.

Regards to your dad, stay safe.

John

Hi Drum82,

Thank you so much for taking the time to feed back to us regarding your family's experience of your Dad's care during his recent illness. I'm sure it must have been a frightening and very worrying time for all of you.

It's great to hear that he is now back at home and hopefully enjoying your Mum's cooking again. I hope he continues to make good progress with his recovery.

It's always good for us to receive feedback and particularly heartening when it is as positive as yours. It's well known that our NHS has been under an unprecedented degree of pressure over the past year and uplifting words like yours are especially appreciated by all of us.

Best wishes,

David
