In the early hours of Friday January15th., I had to visit A+E with a severe water retention issue. I am Male aged 75 and not a good patient due to being fit most of the time and try to avoid medical help. The Triage section staffed by two ladies was where, after tests and a bladder scan, I was advised to have a catheter fitted for a couple of weeks. I was mortified by the thought and scared by the prospect. After a brief discussion and the benefit of the Nurse's advice, common sense prevailed and I agreed to the process. The two ladies could not have acted more professionally or more compassionately. They could see the state of distress which I was in and were so kind and caring as well as efficient in carrying out the task, that if I had to go through it again, I could not recommend more highly that they be requested to carry out the task. I am a member of the Foundation Trust and proud to be associated with professionals such as I came into contact with during my recent visit.
