"shambles"

About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital (London)

where do I start? The maternity department was a complete shambles...Nurse in triage didn't seem to have a clue what she was doing. Laid her tray of sharps on my stomach while trying (and failing) to take blood from me, then moved over to labour ward where things didnt get better. Left for hours completely alone whilst in labour and straight after. Left in soiled sheets after giving birth and then moved over to postnatal ward where the midwifes refused my baby formula even though I was struggling with breast feeding. I had to cry before someone took pity on me. Oh and I didn't even get fed myself. Got told they had "run out" of dinner and offered a measely sandwich instead. Terrible experience.

I am so sorry to hear of your recent experience of the maternity service at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. We aim to provide a high standard of care to all women and babies we are privileged to look after. Clearly, we have failed to achieve this during your stay with us. Please accept my sincere apologies.

It would be helpful to learn more about your experience and I would welcome an opportunity to meet with you. If you would like to do that please get in touch with the PALS team, they will be happy to arrange for us to meet. The PALS team can be contacted via email: pals.qeht@nhs.net

Kind regards

Sue Chatterley, Head of Midwifery QEH site
