Today, this octogenarian received the first Covid-19 vaccination at Robertson Clinic, Stevenage. Not knowing what to expect, understanding the pressure the NHS and the public were under,I was immediately assured, in fact, charmed by the attitude of everyone officiating, from the traffic wardens directing incomers round the large complex, to the dozens of NHS nurses and teenage St John's Ambulance assistants. These overworked professionals were friendly, smiling and humorous and, above all, so efficient at their job of getting the hundreds of patients moving along a sort of assembly line leading to the AstraZeneca vaccination providers and then out of the door and back homewards. The warden on the exit even making sure I knew the way to leave Stevenage to head for East Essex.
Well done the NHS! And all other concerned. You made what could have easily been an unpleasant afternoon into a rewarding experience with those closest to the Pandemic.
