I was referred to the gynae department at the Royal Infirmary at the end of October because of a mass on one ovary. I had been already been in severe pain for a couple of months and was concerned that there would be a long delay for treatment or that my worries would be brushed off. But the doctors and nurses I spoke to were incredibly helpful and reassuring. I was immediately referred to a surgical consultant and not long after scheduled for a laparotomy.
The staff on the ward before and after my surgery were friendly, attentive and made me feel well looked after, which was very welcome since it was my first surgery and because of covid-19 I wasn't able to have my partner or my family there with me. I'm very grateful for the care they gave me.
