After putting up with an injury to my right hand going back some while, I was delighted that I was put straight onto the operating list.
Staff, from the day I was admitted as a day case, were simply wonderful.
My surgeon, Mr Poulter worked intricately and diligently, once the theatre team had got me ready. There were others receiving just the same degree of care too.
It was clear from seeing some of the other patients there how busy and essential, each day’s work must be.
Following returning to have the stitches out a couple of weeks later, once again the the staff were all so helpful and considerate and professional. The physiotherapist gave me such clear and useful advice, especially about scar management and the necessary exercises to help the healing process.
All I can say is, despite the added strain of the Coronavirus pandemic, the dedication and devotion of all the staff I saw, from security to the surgical expertise itself, was unparalleled in my experience and, as the son of a surgeon myself, I know what the workload can be.
Thank you all and I wholeheartedly recommend anyone who needs such care to look to The Royal Cornwall Hospital and to rest assured you will be in very good hands.
