"Great Care"

About: Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre

I came to NOC in November 20 transferred from another hospital, due to infection in Knee Replacement during Covid19. Had great care from the consultant during my stay. Had first stage of a two stage replacement. Now looks like the 2nd stage may not be possible and looking at maybe 2 options that aren’t what I would want done. They are in my eyes the worst options, although hard decisions, the consultant has and is still trying to do his best to see if anything else could be done. My follow up appt in outpatient during this time of COVID-19 is organised well at the hospital and socially distanced. Due to less people and I guess reduced clinics, waiting time in the clinics run smoothly and are quicker. I feel at this hospital I get given information on my problem and I really grateful for being informed of any plans of what can or cannot be done. At NOC I know I am treated like a person with the consultants team and my opinion is respected. As an inpatient the criticism I have is consultants, and other teams such as Bone infection unit do not collaborate information before each team see’s patients separately, and end up not knowing who to listen to. All teams do not let nursing staff know, so if they notice you are upset or confused they do not know why as nobody has let them know. I think this happens in other hospitals across the country as I have encountered, not just NOC. I do feel the staff are caring, and I am given the facts, involved in my treatment and not rushed into decisions. I wish to thank them for the help.
