"Literally back where I started"

About: Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust / Step 4 Psychotherapy Service Trent Pts

(as a service user),

Referred for Step Four Psychotherapy after many years of campaigning on my part. In this time I have been prescribed nine different forms of antidepressant/ anti anxiety medication, all with a different hellish side effect.

The short course Therapist at Trent PTS agreed to put in a referral to my G. P, after I explained that in the space of 11 years, I'd had multiple 3-4 sessions of therapy from the provider, and they hadn't helped. My G. P wouldn't sign off on this, unless I went on  200mg of Sertraline a day, the consequence of this was that I often had difficulty seeing, but my G. P said that going up to this dosage was the only way to be referred to Step Four.

After spending over a year like this, (trust me- replying to work emails is hard without vision) was given a short number of Therapy sessions via Zoom and had a five minute conversation with a Psychiatrist who prescribed me 2mg of Diazepam and 50mg of Quetiapine for Anxiety a day. They then said they were discharging me back to my G. P without a medication review, I explained my G. P hadn't heard of this medication and asked them to review it with me in a month, they eventually relented but said that it would be four months and probably wouldn't be needed.

It has been three months and the medication has had no effect, and the G. P's Receptionist (who apparently gives medical advice) said I should go back to Trent PTS, who I have already been discharged from. After all this time of hoping and waiting, Step Four Psychotherapy turned into another fob off, that discharged me and shunted me somewhere, getting me off their books as quick as possible. Literally, back where I started. What a joke this whole system is.
