"Contacted South Eastern Trust ICATS Dermatology Service"

About: South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust

(as a service user),

I received a telephone dermatology appointment for my son for Tuesday 5 January at 3pm. The letter said for afternoon appointments to make yourself available from 12.30pm to 5.00pm.  With the winter weather my sons has been having problems with his arms, so i was glad i had received the review appointment as i wanted to check if there was anything else we should be doing for him.

I am working from home, so on Tuesday i gathered my son's notes and kept them and my mobile beside me from 12.30 as instructed.
I lost track of time and at 2.55pm my colleague rang me and i didn't realise the time and didn't get off the phone until 3.10pm.  I had no further phones calls for the rest of the day, so i assumed i missed the call. It was completely my fault and i accept that.
The next morning i rang the ICATS patient booking line to let them know and find out if the appointment could be rescheduled.
The lady at the end of the phone was extremely unhelpful. I know the Trust is under a lot of pressure at the minute and it was my fault that i missed the appointment, but i just wanted to let them know what had happened and i that i was sorry that i had missed the call and would i receive another appointment and would that be soon, or would be have to wait another 6 months or has my son been removed from the list altogether?
The lady didn't know, as the notes hadn't been updated - fair enough, but i asked should i ring back - she said no. I asked would i get another appointment and she was unclear in her response. She ended the conversation by saying for me to do nothing.
So now i don't know what is happening.  As is said before it was my fault I missed the call, but i would just like to know what will happen now?
Thank you
