I found out I was pregnant with my third baby during the first week of lockdown, in March 2020. I was nervous as to how the Covid-19 pandemic would affect the healthcare I would receive through the pregnancy and especially the postnatal care after an elective c-section.
I needn’t have worried. Every single healthcare professional that I came into contact with during my pregnancy and after having my baby went above and beyond to make the experience as positive as possible.
After my baby was born he contracted an infection so we had to stay in hospital for 5 days while he was given a course of antibiotics. The care we both received during this time was exceptional and made a very scary experience a positive one for me, especially with the restrictions on visiting at the time due to the pandemic.
