"Extremely impressed"

About: Royal Albert Edward Infirmary

3 days in MAU Bay 3 left me with a very good impression.

The staff, although working so hard with patients coming and going, were always ready to help the rest of us with smiles on their faces and a very polite helpful attitude. Always ready to explain anything we did not immediately understand. The unit was so busy and I have nothing but admiration for the way the staff made sure everything ran smoothly and patients were immediately put at their ease. I have extreme anxiety problems, but not once did I feel any anxiety while I was there, which surprised me greatly. In my opinion, I could not have been in a better place.

The ward, bathrooms etc, were always kept exceptionally clean.

The food was good, lots of choice and tasty.

I came through from A&E and Resus. My experiences there were also very good, with things being explained to me very well.

My exit was through the Winstanley discharge ward, where again, the staff were more than friendly and helpful and made sure everything was fully explained, making my departure very smooth and stress free.

I would like to thank all the staff, especially those on MAU for making my stay at Wigan a pleasant, stress free experience. I appreciate how hard they work with all the patients from entry to discharge.

I would have no fears about any return visits I may have to make in the future, and would have no hesitation in reassuring anyone else who may have to stay there.
