On December 14 2020, my husband suffered a stroke and was admitted to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary. He was discharged on December 24 and I assumed responsibility for his care. My nursing and medical experience is pretty well zero, so I was clearly nervous about how I was going to cope.
However, we were referred to Stars (Short Term Assessment Reablement Service),who for the next ten days provided invaluable back-up for us. Without exception their workers were empathetic, knowledgeable, practical, professional and above all KIND. In this time of isolation due to COVID-19, just to have the reassurance of their daily visits and encouragement made a huge difference.
They are indeed stars and I would like to express my deep gratitude for all they did for us.
"They made a huge difference"
