"Cancelled post cancer scans"

About: Royal Derby Hospital / Oncology

(as a service user),

After my operation to remove a kidney after it was found to be cancerous I was told I would have a scan every 6 months for 3 years. I had the first scan but then Covid struck and I was told they couldn't tell me when the second one would be, so I paid for it to be done privately. The third scan was due this month (January) but as I hadn't heard from the hospital with an appointment I rang them, only to be told there had been a conference and they had decided I only needed a scan every year..thanks for telling me! ! ! So now I am having to pay for a private scan again. I appreciate the pandemic has had an effect on other treatments but at least have the decency to keep people informed, it only takes a phone call or letter.
