I attended Queen Margaret Hospital Day Surgery Unit in December 2020 for removal of my gall bladder, due to gallstones. I received clear information in the lead up to the op. The process of having a covid test (on Boxing Day!) went smoothly and my negative test result meant the operation could go ahead. I had socially distanced for 14 days prior to the op, and I was in self isolation straight after the Covid test. This process, plus the way the Hospital was organised, made me feel 100% safe about going into hospital.
On the day, all the members of the staff team involved in my care introduced themselves and explained their role. I felt that everone had a positive attitude and made me feel very confident in their level of skill.
My treatment was first class - pre op, anaesthesia, surgery, recovery, and discharge.
I am full of gratitude and admiration to the staff team in partucular and to the NHS in general for providing my treatment. It was my first ever time in hospital (at age 63) and I feel so lucky that these services are available for free.
